Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
